How do I check the compliance status in TimeTac?

Spot compliance warnings and violations right from the dashboard

This article is for: Standard user, Manager, Project manager, Admin, Account owner

This feature is available in: Web app, Desktop app

TimeTac flags compliance issues in two dashboard widgets and in the full Compliance report under Reports > Compliance. This article explains what the two widgets show on the dashboard and how you can edit entries.

See compliance at a glance on your dashboard

Two widgets on your dashboard summarize compliance for the users you manage. The Compliance overview shows a horizontal bar chart with the number of users whose time data is compliant, and users whose time data shows violations or warnings. The Compliance violations widget shows counts for this week and last week and links straight to the filtered report.

Info: Only users with a management role see the Compliance overview. Everyone sees their own Compliance violations count, regardless of permissions.

Understand the difference between warnings and violations

TimeTac distinguishes between two types of issues. A violation means someone exceeded the maximum working hours or didn't meet the core hours set in their work schedule. A warning means the system found a plausibility conflict — a working day with no tracked time or absence.

Info: This feature shows the same rules already used in the calendar and Timesheet report. You set the maximum working hours and core hours for a work schedule under Company > Work schedule. Learn more: How do I set working hour limits?

Filter and review the Compliance report

The Compliance report under Reports > Compliance lists every flagged entry for the users in your scope. Group entries by week or switch to the list view, and choose which columns to display. Filter options are also available.

Follow these steps

  1. Go to Reports > Compliance.
  2. Filter by date, user, and compliance, or by whether a day has already been approved.
  3. Group entries by week, or switch to the list view for a flat overview.
  4. Choose which columns to display.

Jump to the calendar and approve a day

From the section Users compliance details you can jump straight into their calendar to fix flagged data.

Follow these steps

  1. Click the row with a warning or violation, or click View in calendar under Actions, to open the calendar entry.
  2. Review the entry and correct the data.
  3. Once the data is correct, approve the day under Actions > Approve day.
Info: Approving a day here does the same thing as approving it in the Timesheet report — you only need to do it once.

You now know how to keep track of compliance status in TimeTac.
