Set up password update rules
Password update rules control how often passwords expire and whether users can reuse previous passwords.
Follow these steps
- Go to Settings > Account settings and open the Login tab.
- In the Password update section, select the checkbox Require password update and enter the number of months.
- Select the checkbox Restrict immediate password reuse and enter the number of days users must wait before reusing a previous password.
- Select the checkbox Password update for new user so that new users must change their password on first login.
Set up password requirements
Password requirements define what new passwords must contain.
Follow these steps
- Open the Password requirements section.
- Enter the minimum number of characters under Length.
- Enter the minimum number of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numerals and special characters.
Tip: At least 12 characters with one character from each category meets common security recommendations.
Set up login access
Login access protects accounts against automated login attempts.
Follow these steps
- Open the Login access section.
- Enter the maximum number of failed login attempts before TimeTac locks the account.
Warning: Don't set this number too low — even a typo can lock users out. Five to ten attempts is standard.
Set up username requirements
You define the minimum and maximum length for new usernames for Admin users.
Follow these steps
- Open the Username section.
- Enter the minimum and maximum length for usernames.
You now know how to set up login and password rules in TimeTac.
